Yay or nay? I have been contemplating using it for my face and body needs. If not, what would y'all suggest? I currently use Mary Kay products, I have been contemplating using more natural brands. I switched from Listerine and crest to Tom's and love the difference.

Google "skin deep" to get to a website that rates different products based on their ingredients!

I was wondering what kind of containers do you store your home made stuff in (and where do you buy them), especially deoderant? And then how do you apply it?

Quoting Baby4us09:

Try deordeant

For some odd reason this computer wont let me cut and paste but you can googlr homemade deorderant. I made one just using corn startch, coconut oil and baking soda.

I read that you can put it in an old deoderant container, but since I havent tried this, I just thought the solution would come out too soft, not molded like product and fall apart. Deoderant container seems like a good choice since it has that thing you can adjust for application.... I have been using Jasons Tea tree oil deoderant and like it a lot and it lasts a LONG time (duration of use), but I have been wanting my DH to change to something more natural and was thinking of using him as a guinea pig to experiment with DIY deoderant....I will google your recipe to find out how much of each ingredient is needed to make some... thanks

I agree. I'd rather do it myself

I don't use many mainstream products because of this. It's cheaper and healthier to make your own stuff anyway. I am not going to pad the pockets of big corporations unless I have no other options.

I haven't used burt's since Clorox bought them out.

Colgate/Palmolive owns Toms of Main, Dannon owns Stonyfield (original owner sits on the board), Kashi is owned by Kellog and Naked/Odwalla juices are now owned by Coke and the list could go on!

I guess I dont see why it matters as long as the product I am using does not change. Its all about money for everyone, can you blame them tho? More and more companys are hoping on the organic/natural bandwagon since so many people are realizing that these products are healthier and better for us and the enviroment.

I refuse to spend $4 on toothpaste. Or any other ridiculously expensive natural products. So I make my own. I made my own face scrub and love it! I haven't needed any moisturizer since

I agree, certain things like Stonyfield I buy because so far I haven't attempted to make my own and there are no other options at the stores I go to but I do avoid Burts Bees, Toms of Maine, and others in place of smaller companies whenever possible and of course make my own of some stuff.

We go through a lot of baking soda, vinegar, coconut oil, and essential oils!
