"To the parent or guardian of dd or ds..."
"Just a friendly reminder about vaccines and how important it is for your child/baby to have them. Our records show that your child is overdue fo the Varicella. Please talk to your child's pediatrician or Doctor about this important vaccine. Also, just for reference, here is the table with the recommended vaccines. "
This "friendly" reminder came in the mail today from our health insurance company. ::sigh:: I think I got one every year for my son because I have continued to deny the chickenpox vax. Thank you health insurance, but like you stated, they are recommended, not mandatory.
Anyone else get "friendly" notices from their health insurance companies?
YEP my sons get medicaid and we get those reminders ALL the time
Ours (private insurance) has never sent anything regarding vaccines.

Won't help. The whooping cough going arouns in NOT in the current vaccine. Also the DTaP is less than 40% effective in the best case scenarios.
As for chickenpox, getting the shot may increase you ds's risk for shingles as a young adult. My sister and I had Chickenpox while my brother got the vax. We were all exposed to shingles and my brother got a terrible case of shingles at the age of 18.
I persoanlly do not believe in any vaccine any longer. My son is vax injured and I began doing a lot of safety and effacy research and what I read was shocking. No vaccine is safe or 100% effective and you may be ruining you immune system by vaxing.
Quoting TrentsMom84:Actually according to the CDC all adults should be getting the pertussus vaccine because the childhood one doesn't give lifelong immunity. It's probably one of several reasons that pertussus is making a comeback-adults don't get boosters and create a new strain that is resistant to the vax.

Not really. We had our son have chicken pox vaccination for two reasons1) he has had eczema and we hear chicken pox could be a big problem for him.2) we both had chicken pox as kids and remember the awful urge to scratch and being told not too. Myself ,I had pertusses a few years ago(vaccines where off) and it was terrible. Coughing for 15 minutes straight ,not able to catch my breath...yuck! I'm looking to get the adult pertusses vaccine.
i had a baby that had no heart. and they kept pushing for an abortion that they refered to as a "procedure" to remove the growth...i knew what they meant thne i bled so badly at nearly 12 weeks that i felt like throwing up.... a couple months latter i got a letter telling me that i now had prenatal care with well baby....ehem yuh right and tell me im almost 5 months preg? yup heartless people tend to not pay attention to updates in insurance i did go on to have a baby girl after bleeding so badly my second pregnacy i thought i might lose her too about 12 months after the loss of the othe rpregnacy but still to send such aletter to a woman AFTER you PAY for the care after a misscarage or life threatening event is heartless!!

I got a letter congratulating me on the upcoming birth of my new baby from my insurance company in December, and that I should have been getting proper prenatal care. I had an ectopic pregnancy that I almost died from last summer. My insurance company paid for my emergency surgery. They all suck. :(
i go tth eshingles and i wasnt vaxed so your damned if you do damned if you dont with that one. i got my head chewed off by a pedi (the one i fired) cause i said id rather them get th epox or flu naturally and buil dup an immunity than to give them a shot that could make them sick. i had the hacking cough A LOT when i was a teenager bu tmy mom never go tthe pertusus boosters for me. sometimes its better to get the natural strains than to vax...

Anyone can get the shingles, even people who never got the vax or the pox because you can get exposed without realizing it. With the shingles there is some data to suggest that getting the vax is correlated with getting shingles in your teens and young adult years rather than later in life when shingles used to typically show up.
