Natural Birth & Parenting Natural Birth & Parenting

I just found a website for a male doula.

What do you think? Would you be interested?

I would not, just not something I'm comfortable with.

For me having a man besides DH around would be inhibiting to my labor and I know DH would be uncomfortable with another man in such an intimate, emotional role.

No. I also wouldn't hire a doula who never had a natual childbirth.

Nope, not at all lol. I wouldn't hire a woman who hasn't had a baby either though.

no i don't think so because i feel like i would count on a doula to be understanding and knowing what it's like.... and obviously HE couldn't do that =)

One of my requirements is that the doula has given birth, so no.

This very well said

Probably not. Part of what makes a doula a good doula to me is they have been through it before and know exactly what you are going through. Men can in no way ever know how that is. Also I think it would be really wierd for my husband if another male was rubbing and massaging me and making me feel better.

Personally, no. I also would prefer a doula who has birthed naturally herself. I just feel that she would better understand what I am going through. I love my husband, but he will never understand and that is why I am hiring a doula! Lol!
