i have had a half a dozen people tell me in the past week that i was "brave" for having my baby at home.....like it was some harrowing experience or something. it makes me wonder why everyone thinks its so dangerous, in my mind if you are low risk then its a safer option than a hospital birth which is why i birthed at home. in fact i think mom's who birth in a hospital are WAAAAY more brave than i ever was :)
still its strange to me that anyone would consider me brave for trusting my body and let nature takes it course! do you think that home birthers are more "brave" than hospital birthers?
No. I was told the same thing after I had my dd. "You are so brave." "I can't believe you did that!" "Weren't you scared?" "I would of been freaking out!" etc.
Check out the Homebirth groups on here if you are feeling like the black sheep.
i think home birthers are brave...but i'm scared of change. big time. i've birthed in a hospital (before i knew more about birthing at home and in birth centers) before and it was a great experience.
but i'm sure my mind will change if i ever get the chance
i had two hospital births and want to birth the rest of my kids at home!!!
Lol! I know. I get that a lot when I talk about my ideal birth being a home birth. It is because people have been instilled with such fear over giving birth. They don't see that the scariest thing (generally) about giving birth is intervening and putting Mom's in a model that does not benefit our bodies' innate knowledge of what to do.
