Chapped knees and feet from crawling

Ds is 7 months old (today!) and has been scooting around for a month. He army crawls, so his little knees and tops of his feet are all chapped and rough :(

It's too hot to always have him in pants and leg warmers and socks! I do apply balms/lotions/oils to his legs and feet but obviously it's not going to solve the problem 100%.

We had hardwood floors when my other kids were crawling so this is new to me. It makes me feel so bad! Will his skin get used to it and start looking better, or do I need to keep him in pants and socks all the time? He is a big, chubby baby who sweats a ton and I feel bad when he's wearing pants and socks and it's 90* out...

My first suggestion would be baby legs type of things. If it's too hot, I'm not sure. :-/ Would he be too hot in just a diaper and some leggings?

I do put him in baby legs... I like him to be in a onesie because he drags his belly when he scoots around, and I feel that his belly skin is more tender than his knees KWIM?

Maybe they make little cotton bands for a baby's knees?? Off to Google... lol

I have seen kneepads for crawling babies. :) I hope you find a solution.

Have you tried aquafor? Or coconut oil? Those are the most moisturizing things I can think of. Maybe apply with every diaper change?

Yes and yes. I am really just wondering if this will be an issue until he is walking, or if his skin will adjust I guess?

He'll probably develop some callouses soon.

I would say just a little coconut oil or whatever you prefer to moisturize once a day.  His skin will become accustomed to it soon.
