Hi! We are meeting our first Doula today. I figured we should meet a few before deciding. Any suggestions, thoughts, recommendations? Thanks!!
Having a doula that ages with your ideas of how birth should go is imperative.
How exciting!

My advice is to be open and honest, and be sure your doula is a Good Fit!

Thanks for all the responses everyone!! The meeting was great :) My
husband seems to like her and we both got good "vibes" from her. She
spent an hour with us talking about her philosophy, experiences, what
she will do for us, how she will work with my husband, postpartum
visits, etc. She was very energetic and calming at the same time. She
has experience with my midwives and the birthing center we are laboring
at. Plus she lives (and her office is) only five minutes away! Her fee
is $600 and I think that is reasonable for what she is offering (oh, she is a licensed massage therapist, too!). I have
heard (and read) from most people that they are wonderful to have,
especially if it is your first birth.Thank you for all the well wishes!
