Any good suggestions for labor snacks?
Low sugar beverages?
Thanks ladies :)
I'd bring a wide variety of things so you have some options. I liked things that were easy to get down like fruits, pudding, and cheese.
I drank water with electrolytes.
you could get coconut water to drink as an electrolyte drink. For my last homebirth I had a bag of cashews that I mixed w/ raisins. For lunch I ate cabbage and beef soup(we made it ahead of time and had it in the freezer,so we just took it out and reheated it). For supper after DS was born we had taco chili in the crockpot that was ready. Oh and I had a protein bar..that my doula bullied me into eatting some of till I kicked her out of the rm..lol, yeah I didn't want to eat and she wanted me to keep my strength up. I also remember having eggs, toast, and ham at some point after the birth too.
Great ideas, thank you!
I brought enough for a family for a few days: a large cooler and grocery sack full, plus take-out/delivery menus for nearby restaurants... lol
Lots of things, mostly simple/not a lot of seasonings....
Whatever you don't mind getting sick off of later :)
I wouldn't bring too much unless you plan on getting there early. Most of your laboring when you're hungry will probably be at home.
The coconut water seems like a really good suggestion!
