I remember feeding my oldest rice cereal, applesauce and bananas and then being shocked he was constipated. Now i get it, that Being part of the BRAT diet for managing diarrhea (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast). When my babies bowels seemed unhappy with the new diet introductions, I backed off solids and nursed them back to normal and tried again a week or two later (assuming here that baby is beyond 6 months)

This is quite shocking to read in this group. The AAP recommendation is exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months (or formula) and introduction of solids after that period. The first year of baby's life, nutritional needs should be met through breastmilk (or formula) and solids are for experimenting with taste and texture. And many completely skip over the "baby cereals" as they don't provide much nutrition. I'm not trying to call you out or put you down, but rather point out the best practice advice for the OP and the scores of other new moms who are wondering about starting solids.

Quoting ashlerstraight:

I started baby cereal when he was about a month and now. Now hes almost 2 months and hes eating baby food mixed in with his cereal.
