Both of my children were born at free standing birth centers. My first was a water birth there and my second was supposed to be but he came too fast. He was almost born on the toilet, lol.
but i'm not fond of how i got treated. i went to the better out of the two choices i had and the better of the two left me in my bed for hours with bloody bandages. everytime i called the nurses station, the women was moody and rude. and they kept taking my baby away from me. they'd take her for hours and i call to ask for her back and the women would say i can have her back when they are done. by time i got her back she was out cold, alseep. i didnt notice til i actually changed her clothes but she had 5 needle injection sites on her. the only thing they told me they had to do was a hearing test, and first hypo. B shot. i made sure i got outa there after the 24 hours. they wanted me to stay 48 hours. i said no way!
Birth center in Sept for my first baby. Next one will definitely be a home birth!
First was in the hospital. I wouldn't call it a bad experience, but there was definitely a lot that could be improved on.
This one were planning on an at home birth.
If there are any pregnant women reading this page trying to decide which way would be best..
I am writing from a television show and we are looking for pregnant couples in the Los Angeles area that would be interested in coming to a taping of a show we are doing about birthing. The taping will be like an information session helping you and your significant other to make a decision. So if you and your spouse disagree or are undecided about at-home or hospital birth, please submit your name, photo, and phone number to firstname.lastname@example.org. Tapes Thurs. Aug 23. Thanks!
