i would like DS' next food to be sweet potato, but i have never cooked it before.  how do you cook it??

he is EBF and has only had mashed avocados and pureed pears, so he has never really had anything with "substance" yet.

You can steam them or bake them.

I just cut it into rounds and steam it if I want to quick. Or just bake at 375 til nice and soft if you have the time. I don't peal them cause the peel comes off really easy once they ate cooked.

You can steam them quickly, but I find that they taste much better if cooked in the oven.

If you have/use a microwave, you can stab holes in it all over and put it in for 5-7 minutes. It's my favorite quick snack.

bake like a baked potato with a few stabbed holes. then unwrap, peel, and puree. super easy! but honestly they are so soft at 8 months he could try them not pureed too. :)

It will be sweeter if you bake it.  400 degrees until soft.  Then remove peel and any fiberous bits and mash.  The garnet sweet potatos (they're a darker orange) will be sweeter than the lighter orange ones.

I cut them up like fries, toss with oil and bake at 350° for about half hour. Yum! My DD loves them too
