Please help me convince a friend....Update Again
NOT to listen to her doctor!!!!!!
She was told she is measuring "behind" and it was determined that her baby is not growing fast enough. She has had several ultrasounds and they have found no medical reason for a small baby... so IMO, it's just a small baby, right? Just leave her alone and let her grow, right? Well her genius doctor thinks it somehow makes sense to take her via c-section at 36 WEEKS!!!! WTF?! So essentially, they are MAKING a premature baby! I am trying to figure out what I can say to convince her to get a second opinion. I don't want to sound too abrasive for fear of turning her off and pushing her in the other direction... Ugh! What would you say??
I asked her about why they would want to take her out early if she is so small, and this was her response: something unknown is preventing her from growing properly so as soon as its easier to make her grow outside than in she'll come out.
I still don't get it. I'm not sure there's anything I can say because from the rest of her response, she sounded resigned to this scenario. I'm just scared for that little baby. The baby IS growing, just not as quickly as they want her to. I don't know...if I was told I "had" to have my baby taken out via c-section at 36 weeks because she was small at 33 weeks...I'd probably laugh at the absurdity.
She is almost 35 weeks, and had another ultrasound today. They say the baby gained a pound and is measuring over 4 pounds now (I don't know how much over). I looked up a fetal size chart and at 35 weeks, the average weight is 5.25 pounds. So how big of a difference is that, really? I mean, babies are born all different shapes and sizes...so at 35 weeks, is a pound under the average weight really that big of a deal? She's still growing! She gained a pound in 2 weeks (according to the ultrasound anyway)...isn't that normal???
