Do they want to know information such who your care provider is, whether you are going to prenatal appointments, if you are getting a flu shot, where you plan to deliver, etc.? What kind of medical information do they ask you for and do they communicate at all with your health care provider? What if they deem you to have a "medical risk" such as gaining too much/too little weight, anemia, or something else? Do they check your weight or hemoglobin?
Since I'm having a homebirth and not following conventional prenatal care, I'm just wondering if it's worth being scrutinized or risk having them call CPS because they don't like my birth choices... especially since I will mostly only being using the produce voucher.
They use that info to assess risk. They gave me a "lecture" everytime but never called CPS
With both my pregnancies, they checked my weight, iron, and askes about my nutrition. Nothing else. Also askes me how my prenatal appointments were going but I also happen to be friends with some of the staff outside the office.
However if you only want the produce voucher, I can assure you the hassle just can't be worth it. My sister gets WIC and it's only $6 a month to spend on fresh fruits or veggies, the rest is dairy and processed cereal type junk.
I was planning a homebirth and told them that. They never gave me a problem or anything.. they don't verify anything at all.
I don't remember them really asking about that stuff just mostly nutrition questions.
