This is my second child. With my DS I was 2 weeks and 5 days over due. I was given Cytotec to help start my labor, it was not until my sister told me all the effects of this pill that I fished the remaining of it out... Anyways, my son came out with pneumothorax and pneumonia. :( spent 7 days in the NICU.:( I am afraid to go over my due date with my daughter... I refuse to take Cytotec, and I hate the idea of taking pitocin......
Does anyone have good recommendations for how to induce labor naturally...
I have googled it, but most of those ideas just seem plain silly to me..
Thank you.
And with this pregnancy, I am walking 40 minutes 5 days a week. And going to the pool 3 days a week for 1.5 hours..
What will she do if you go over more than 7 days? She can't make you do what you don't feel comfortable doing. I would look into the risks associated with induction for no reason other than post due date. If I went by my last period I'd be 12 days farther along but I know that I ovulate late in my cycle and DH and I don't have sex often enough for me to not know when it happened. Some women grow babies faster and some grow slow. If you are determined to be induced at that time then you're better off doing it under the care/supervision of a medical professional rather than taking/doing anything on your own at home.

With DS I walked 3 miles a day... And nothing... And my midwife is not going to let me go more than 7 days over due... :( I know I have a while still, I just would like to prepare now...

Meaning up through the end of the 43rd week? You are pretty likely to birth on your own prior! ;-)
Quoting doulala:Why force anything? Are you having health complications?
No, not health complications whatsoever.
And I am not really pushing it, I just really don't want to go overdue. And wanted to know homeopathic ways to help soften cervix and help put myself into labor...

I don't want to induce my labor... I want to help myself, and my body at least start effacing, and possibly opening the cervix... I dont and won't do anything silly like castrol oil or anything....
I think my post is sending off the wrong idea.... Maybe I should rephrase it...
Quoting doulala:
That is what I thought would happen with my first pregnancy and it did no happen...
Just need advice on how to help my body naturally start effacing, and to getting ready for labor....

I think I understand what you're saying~~
Induction means forcing labor when the body and baby aren't Ready yet. Remedies may/may not cause issues but there are risks, even with the emotional-mental aspect. Believing you should do this stuff may be a sign of a depleted confidence.
Your body is complicated and it knows exactly what to do and when-- and how.
Altering things outside of normal can add unnecessary risks, safest to avoid these.
I encourage you to stay focused on your priorities and goals, assuming that is to have a happy, healthy, safe experience. Have faith in this process. Your body isn't going to suddenly quit on you. Trust in your body that created this life from a single cell without you doing anything just in case.
;-)
Just as a woman’s heart knows,
How and when to pump,
Her lungs to inhale,
And her hand to pull back from fire,
So she knows when and how to give birth.
