what ingredients to watch out for in baby lotions and soaps? Anyone have a favorite brand they use?

ETA: How often do you use moisturizer on your baby? Are there any oils I should stay away from?

I just picked up some Johnson and Johnson Baby Soap for my DD without checking the ingredients. I will not be using it on her... it contains parabens, sulfates, ethanols, oh and red 40. I have been using organic soap bars that I ordered online. This seriously is sickening, this is baby soap we are talking about! These chemicals are easily absorbed through their skin since it is so much thinner than ours. We are setting our kids up for a world of health issues in their future with these products.

I will only use Dr. Bronners baby mild for baby. The rest of the family, myself included only use dr.bronners liquid castile soaps also. I use coconut oil and'/or sweet almond oil for moistuizer.

Still pretty new to the whole idea of all natural soaps and moisturizers - help?

Where do you get Dr. Bronners?

And for myself to hopefully prevent stretch marks, I've been oiling up with some Bio-Oil - thoughts?

My rule: if you can't eat it, you shouldn't put it on your body.

Lotions are unnecessary and full of parabens, mineral oil, and lots of other crap. Instead use a carrier, and only if necessary, like jojoba or olive oils.
Soap: for little babies is unnecessary, use water. If a tot gets dirty I put her in a bath with some home made bath salts. When she's big enough that she doesn't mind, I use my home made salt scrubs.

We usually use Castille soap or just plain water. Babies don't really get dirty.

Coconut oil if a lotion is needed.

You can find Dr. Bronner's at Target by the Burt's Bees products in the cosmetics. Or order it online.

Bio-Oil worked great for my friend and really helped my stretch marks fade after pregnancy. I used coconut oil and that worked well for me.
