I just read about this project on FB. Operation Special Delivery partners with local trained volunteer doulas to provide free labor support for women whose husbands were injured or killed in combat, or will be deployed or otherwise unavailable to attend the birth for military reasons.

I know there are a lot of military wives on CM, so I thought I would share!

One of these days I'll become a LC and a Doula. Probably never because I lack the knowledge as to where to find training around here. In my dream world, I'd be a LC, carseat tech and doula.

That is cool!

I am not a trained/licensed Douala, but I have done it. Should probably get the training and license.

That's great about their services though. I was a military wife, but my husband was injured in Iraq and medically retired.

it's doula and you don't have to be certified :-)

i'm not sure about an LC but to be certified as a doula there are many programs that you can do even if it's not local, like childbirth international has a distance learning program. but you don't even have to be certified to be a doula, it's very helpful but not a must.
