1. We were denied a shelter because we haven't slept in an ER or police station. And the "emergency".housing assistance list is over a year wait.
2. Marcus had the appointment with the developmental specialist today and he didn't even begin the assessments for adhd etc.because he wants him to work with a counselor first to help with whatever is going on. He was floored that CPS didn't.open an investigation. He thinks the dr just used the adhd card but even if he has it this many outbursts/situations would warrant further investigation. So we go back in 5 weeks when hes had time to meet with a counselor. Any further behaviors and it may warrant a sexual abuse workup at u mass hospital.
So we're getting there just slowly, but better then nothing :)
That's so stupid! How do you sleep at a police station, do something illegal? Which would mean you get rewarded for doing bad. You do good and try to provide what's possible for your family and get punished? Sorry - I haven't posted on your situation but have been following it and it just makes me mad! I HATE how the system is set up. People like you, the ones who really need the help are the ones who get $#!7 and it's not fair.
Illegals and people who have 5+ kids with different baby daddies and everything have it so EASY! I just HATE how stupid our gov't is. I'm sorry you're going through this. :( Chin up!
It's sad to see that the system that's supposed existence is to help families in need seems to be failing yours :-(
I'm glad at least 1 professional out there sees your son's behaviors aren't just "adhd", good to see some sort of progress on that end.
It's crazy to me that your son who has a real, serious problem is taking months to get help, yet my husband (who decided his actions were the result of mental problems...anyway...) called our county mental health, got a referral and had an appointment within the week. Something just isn't right about that!

So frustrating about the shelter!! I didn't realize a person could go to an ER or polices station to sleep....unless they were a patient or criminal!
