I never worried about the safety of the cloth diapers. It was my fingers that kept getting it, making sure the pins never even touched baby's skin. It's a pity the snappi doesn't grab hold of flannel, but we attached velcro to the homemade flannel diapers. Then I switched to diapers with snaps, and don't have to worry about putting the velcro through the wash either. I am such a lazy person.
I used pins with only a few pricks to my finger. They have diaper pins with locking heads so the only danger I could see would be using old pins, or using them incorrectly. I love snappis. Too bad they don't work we'll with flannel.
While I never had issues with diaper pins, I did find snappis to be preferable!

Quoting MaryJarrett:I like my pins but for a wiggly older baby I cherished my snappi. There are also boingos that I wanna try.
Boingos work great
