The Sugar Saga

Since my son has started going to school, can I say "HOLY SUGAR HELL!!!!" There was a week with three birthdays and he came home so sugared up the meltdowns and tanturms were H O R R I B L E .  I have also noticed that since he's been getting it more at school, he can't handle it and dd follows in his footsteps. I made cookies the other day (plain ole choc chip), they each had one. Within 30 mins they each had sugar rage. It was insane! I tucked them away for dh and made a sugar free batch with orange and cranberry.

Holy Toledo! How the heck do I deal with him getting sugared at school, other than not sending in all that crap when it's his birthday?? (Have a fantastic fruit platter idea for his.)

Sorry, idk. Luckily my kids behavior has never been affected by the rare sugar treat days.
Good luck!

Could it be the type of sugar maybe?

Same here.. the occasional sweet treat never gave my children issues, either.

Idk, when my kids get cookies/cakes/candy at other people's events, I'm sure it's just the regular variety :-) I've never really believed in the whole sugar equals crazy behavior thing for the average kid. I think the excitement of the activity and the disruption to the normal routine is what the root of the issues (of any) are.

You might have an extra sensitive kid if it really is the sugar that's the problem. Maybe tell his school he medically can't have it and send him a homemade treat that he can have?

I send my dd's snack to school due to food allergies but it's nice because I have control over what she eats.
