Is a first period pp often heavier and/or more painful than normal? Or should I assume this *is* my new normal? Baby is 6 months.
I don't remember it being like this with DD1, but she was only 6 or 7 weeks old when it returned so I don't know if that made a difference.

I got AF earlier this month for the first time in almost 2 years. It was so heavy that I called my midwife. Apparently it is normal so as long as you aren't soaking more than a pad an hour (or for me they said more than two lunette cup fulls in an hour)and don't feel strange or light headed then don't worry.

Mine was pretty bad and theyre usually pretty irregular too. I would have one have like 2 weeks off then have one the like 6 weeks off

Thanks ladies. It's not *too heavy, just more so than normal. The cramps have been horrid though.

I have heard drinking water and eating tumeric helps with cramps.

I would not assume it is the 'new normal' just yet.. sometimes it takes a while to regulate.

Mine returned about 6 months pp, too, and it was horridly heavy and painful. But luckily it was a one time terrible thing, and then it went back to the way it was before DS was born...
Here's hoping that yours returns to normal!

What's odd is it was really heavy, for one day. Then nearly nothing. I've had painful ones for a couple years now, so though it was horrid, it might be a case of a year off of them made me forget just how much they sucked lol. Time will tell I guess!
