ammonia smelling urine in toddler?

My DD will be 2 next month, and just started sleeping through the night without nursing a couple times. But now when she gets up her diaper/first morning pee smells like ammonia. Throughout the day it doesn't, just that first initial pee. Has anyone else experienced this?

I use sposies (regretably) and at first thought it was the diaper but I put a liner in it last night, and it was most certainly her urine.

Yep, that first pee can be a stinky one. Same with my 2yo.

I wouldn't worry if it doesn't smell like that the rest of the day.

My dd is like that sometimes too, but keep an eye on it my dd had a uti at about 12 months and one of the 1st things I noticed was foul smelling pee then she ended up sick with a fever.  But it was not just the 1st diaper.

First morning pee is the strongest. It's true for you, too.

Pee is made out of ammonia for the most part that's why you smell it, and the accumulation of hours of pee makes the smell stronger

Probably helps that I don't pee in a diaper and sit in it for a couple hours before waking up. Thank you for your input.

This is what I was concerned about but it has been like this for a few days now and no fever. Thank you.
