I'm 26 weeks and ever so often I feel a strong tight numbing sensation in my lower back. Any idea as to what is causing this?

Probably a pinched sciatic nerve. Try a chiro and massage.

Ditto chiropractor! Look for one who's trained in adjusting pregnant women.
