I know this stuff shouldn't bother me...

But it gets under my skin when people keep asking me if my 3 month old can have some mashed potatoes, and when I say no they give me a hard time about it! As if I'm depriving him! 'Some people' Is pretty much just my parents. They are Sooo narrow minded. They just can't understand why anyone would want to sleep with their baby, breastfeed, let alone full term, and not let a 3 year old eat junk food all freaking day. I'm so worn out :(

Yup! I knew it would come, but it's so soon. They were like, it's soft, he won't choke :/

I guess I shouldn't expect much less, these are the same people who insisted my dd needed orange juice at 4 months because breast milk doesn't have enough vitamins.

I think the same thing. No wonder I have so many digestive issues.

Are we sisters? Lol.

Seriously, I had this conversation with my mom:
Her: I am sending you some Peeps, thought you'd like to have a treat from home for Easter.
Me: Yay! Thank you.
Her: Take a video of Rosalie (my 5 month old) trying her first one so I can see.
Me: She won't be getting any.
Her: What?? WHY? It won't hurt her. I was giving you and your brothers tastes of cake icing at 5 months.
Me: We were all formula fed, my daughter isn't. Look up virgin gut and the true signs of readiness for solid foods. She isn't ready, and her first food will NOT be pure sugar.
Her: Dont believe everything you read!
Me: I believe scientific research. End of story. I am trying to give my daughter the best start in life that I possibly can. Giving her sugar at 5 months is nowhere near what's best for her!

And we haven't spoken since. This was the most recent of many, many similar conversations we've had since I told her I was pregnant.

I am so sorry you're dealing with the same thing. I at least have the advantage of being on the other side of the world.

At some point I would have to put my foot down and let them know that if they cannot respect me as a daughter, my family would not be spending time with theirs until that changes.

That's so hard I'm sorry.  My husbands grandmother gave me so much advice when I had my first it was crazy advice.  Like a 3 day old baby should have formula mixed with rice cereal so they can sleep through the night.  I'm sorry how about NO.  It's exhausting but eventually they've got to get the memo.
