I'm trying to expand my recommended reading list for my doula website. What books do you like for pregnancy, labor, breast feeding, etc?

So that's what's they're for by Janet Tamaro, The Womanly Art of breastfeeding.

also I would add babywearing books.

also (x2) I would recommend adding NOT to read babywise etc.

Great suggestions.

Why not read babywise? Just curious. I've never read them. I think my cousin has though.

They're HORRIBLE! They advocate putting baby on a schedule - basically making the baby wait to eat, sleep etc.  they have been directly linked to baby's FTT.  It's the only book the AAP actually came out and said dont do this!

Personal favorites that have a lot of accessible information - Birthing From Within, Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth, Husband Coached Childbirth, any of Ina May Gaskin's books, Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, Pushed, Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Year by Susun Weed.

Haven't read them yet but I hear great recommendations for Active Birth by Janet Balaskas and Sheila Kitzinger's books.
