excess water

I talked to a midwife to see if she accepted Medicaid, I still am looking for an out of hospital birth, but I have my appt with an ob just in case

she doesn't accept any insurance at all and will only do a first time vbac at a birth center

she said a main cause of excess water was too much sugar intake

I passed my 3- hr GD test

I'm not going to be using her( though I did contact a few birth centers to see if they will accept me)
but I want to start now with cutting out sugar

I'm assuming mainly it means
no soda at all
no juice
no candy or other junk

I don't consume a lot of those as is, so what are some other things to avoid
in assuming fruit is okay cause it's a natural sugar?

White/processed carbs? Those reduce to sugar like when digested.

Also make sure you are drinking plenty of water, your body will hold onto water if you dont drink enought. The average person needs to drink half their body weight in ounces a day

Start looking at labels, if high fructose corn syrup or sugar is in the first 5 ingredients, it's going to have too much sugar.

im pretty good about that...I really dont like to buy something if it has HFCS....

we have to pick and choose which items we'll go healthier with due to finances

we do a lot of fresh vs canned fruit, and we do the healthier breads, natural Pnut butter, no HFCS in ketchup or syrup(we use log cabin for syrup)

we qualify for FS and WIC...and im making a little extra income, so hopefully soon we can afford better food soon

plus eric gets a rais aug 6..a really big one, LOL

I hate that HFCS is in bread. That drives me bananas trying to find bread that doesn't have it in their recipie.
It's such a sneaky ingredient it's in things you wouldn't think to look like BBQ sauce and salad dressing. I have been working on not having it in the home, also.

Don't forget to eliminate white potatos.  They turn to sugar in your system...

It's super healthy for you and babe to cut out white sugar, flour, and taters from your pregnancy diet.  But if that isn't helping with the edema, you might want to investigate Butcher's Broom supplements.  I saw noticeable results after my very first day of taking them...
