Long story but I still in the hospital and my placenta has been in the fridge at home for almost 48 hours. I'm stuck here till tomorrow and I don't want to be stuck without my husbands help while he goes home to do it....would it be ok to do at 48-72 hours?

Uhg....I really need it encapsulated.

Thanks everyone! We decided to let it stay where it was till today and we'll just start encapsulating the second we get home... I gave birth at night so we should be home way before the 72 hour mark and if not I'll just send him home to start it.

A few people asked about how things are...it's been a crazy stressful week but I'll add my detailed birth story at some point. For now I'm just focused on getting us all home :)

Are you 100% sure it can be done before 72ish hours? If not, I'd have someone pop it in the freezer. You can thaw it out and encapsulate anytime you're ready then with no rush (for up to 6 months).

I know nothing about placentas.

You had your baby? And not at home? Did I miss a post? Hope all is well!

Treat it like any meat. The fresher the better but freeze it if you wont be working on it in the next couple days.

I looked it up in her ddg yesterday for anyone wondering. Looks like she didn't have an emergency but just decided to go to the hospital after a bit. Here's the link:
