New to group! Yeast infections in cloth diapers???

This is my first post, I am 7 mos pregnant and planning to cloth diaper with this one.  im pretty new to it but I realized how much money we will save and how easy it is and im excited!

I have a friend with a 9 month old that I got hooked on cloth diapering however she is having a problem.

Her baby has a yeast infection, shes taken her to the doctor and gotten medication but it keeps coming back.  We think it may be in the cloth diapers, maybe shes not washing them properly to kill the yeast?

She puts them in the washer with hot water and vinegar and lets them soak overnight, and then adds soap the next day and runs the washer.  She uses dreft soap with them.

Anyone got any tips?

Welcome :). It sounds like she needs to strip the diapers or wash them in bleach. There are some great cloth diapering groups here on cm that can help you learn how to combat yeast issues.

Good catch, I didn't even see that part. I agree Dreft may be a big part of the issue.

Op. what kind of diapers is she using? Microfiber or cotton materials?

You have to use something that doesn't have enzymes/dyes ect. I use Ecos. I recently found it at Costco way cheaper than the coop I was buying it at! Here's a good resource
