Can I start pumping now?

I'm 31 weeks and I swear my books are full. I feel like 'relieving' some pressure would make them feel better. Can I pump now without it messing with breastfeeding later?

Full books are a pain! ;)
If you haven't already been pumping or nursing throughout your pregnancy, it's my understanding that starting now could cause contractions/ premature labor. If I were you, I'd check kellymom to see what they say before starting. Plus you may not get anything but colostrum.

I agree with the previous posters... it could send you into preterm labor.

That would be nice to get all that extra milk saved up but I wouldn't do it. Pumping could cause uterine contractions.

NO!!!!!!!!! You cannot start pumping until baby is born. Your boobs are supposed to be like this. You think they're bad now HA! You just wait till that baby is born! Oh the joys of motherhood

My son still latches on at 2 1/2 yrs old and I'm almost 24 weeks pregnant with the twins.  If he's on the boob to much I start to get a lot of braxton hicks, I don't suggest you start pumping.  But the idea of starting to save milk before hand was a nice idea.
