This time I am starting out with the midwives.
Last time I had a quad-screen done. It came back all negative but the OB still scheduled me for a couple of Level II ultrasounds.
I figured this time around if the blood test comes back all negative I won't even consider the ultrasounds.
I had my first midwife appointment today for this pregnancy (and heard the heartbeat! Yay. :) ) and their blood test doesn't include a triple or quadscreen.
So if nothing suspicious comes up I would not get a ultrasound or screen.
What's the general consensus on this.
We loved our homebirth last time and am looking forward to the next one.
I really do want to avoid unnecessary ultrasounds.
But I would be okay with non-invasive things like a blood test.
It's not like I would end the pregnancy if my child had Downs etc. but I think it would give us an opportunity to prepare, etc if we knew ahead of time.
What's teh general consensus on this?
