So my DD and her friend made plans to see the new Twilight movie a couple months ago. We found out yesterday that her friend made plans with two other people to see it and not her. Grrrr.... But this means I can go and not be the third wheel! I love the books and am super excited for this to be a mother/daughter thing.
So I go tonight at 7pm to buy tickets for tomorrow's midnight showing. Of the five shows only one wasn't sold out! So after I buy my tickets I ask when we should come for seats. The girl told me she was sure there would be a line by 4PM!! I'm a SAHM and all my kids are homeschooled....so this is doable...but am I insane?! Or is this a wonderful moment I shouldn't pass up on? I don't honestly mind spending hours waiting, reading, and chatting with my DD. I'd be leaving my DH with our other three kids and he's got to find my parents' fairly new house so that he can go to rehearsal (which I'd have to skip) for a local community theater.
So you'd be out there waiting with your DD for a midnight show from 4pm-12pm? that does seem kinda crazy to me :P But then again i'm not into the whole "Twilight fad" like everyone else is :P If it is doable and you have 'stuff' for you and your DD to do that whole time, sure why not? Sounds kinda fun :) my kids are WAY too little to do anything like that but it would've been fun to 'camp out' waiting for HP and stuff :)
I'm a big time Twilight Fan, but even if I was not, I'd still say do the whole camp out thing if you are really eager to get good seats. If its something your passionate about/have a lot of interest in, go for doing something a little crazy once in a while, plus you'd be with your DD. That's quality time together if nothing else! Congrats on getting a first day showing of it, I'll be waiting a few weeks before I drag the hubby out to see it with me.

I'm not a Twilight fan. I've never seen the 1st movie and I didnt even know there was books O_o. Anyways, I am a Fan of the Harry Potter Movies. I'd say if you want to go to the midnight showing, go camp out. I've never been to a midnight showing of anything but many of my friends have. It's best to get there as early as possible.
Even though it's insain todoit for a movie or anyhtng else IMO, but bring your camera and some things to do, it will be a memory in your daughters eyes, the day my mom and I camped out to see that one movie. Hell u can even make this into a whole thing and after scrapbook it by saving twilight memorbilia. Have fun, make sure to bring a snack and drinks if u can sneak them in for while u wait, maybe u 2 could buy books on the movie and read them while u wait?

For all of its proven PUBLIC health benefits, breastfeeding is a PERSONAL DECISION -- shooting your kid full of toxins, though, is a "social responsibility."
For 2000 years doctors looked at the world through the filter (belief) that 'bleeding was therapeutic'. Not until the general education of the public lead people to rebel against this mistake was it corrected. Today many look at the world through the belief that 'vaccines work'.
I would only do it because in this situation she wanted to go so badly and then her friend made plans w/o her, which probably really hurt her feelings. So, I wouldn't be happy about it, but I would do it for her.

Thanks for all the replies ladies. I've talked my DH into doing everything I would normally do and went to the store real early for snacks/dinner. We own all the books and I've already got them and a sleeping bag (seats/warmth) packed secretly in the car. Eventually she'll know...but I would like her reaction to occur with her sisters gone. I LOVE the camera idea! I'll have to add that to my hidden stash! I've always known I was crazy....just don't wanna push it too far LOL.
Thank you so much for responding ladies. We went and had the time of our lives. The first 4 hours we didn't even touch our books, we just chatted and hung out. We were FIRST in line! We got the best seats ever too, not only was the screen straight ahead of us but we got the only row with tons of leg room and a rail to put our feet up on! It was insane....people packed into the hallways like sardines and still by 10 people were waiting outside. I think even after sleep we're still riding the high LOL. This was my first midnight showing too and to be first in line! It definately made my top 10 days! On a side note....we loved the movie too LOL.
oh Glad you had a great time. Plus it will be a wonderful memory your DD will remember all her life. :)
