You might think, hey that won't happen to me, I don't download lots of addons. But a keylogger can be anywhere, and they can hide anywhere on your pc that has memory. Like one such member noted, advanced keyboards ALSO have internal memory. So if you want to save yourself some grievance and time trying to recover your account, get the Authenticator.

We highly recommended to secure your account with an Authenticator.
It's only $6.50, and has free shipping! Save yourself some time, and get it. It's worth it.

Seriously, it's worth it! Check it out at the Blizzard Store

I got one free from Blizzcon and it's the best thing ever. I do download a lot, and I have over 20 addons. So I'm happy to know, I'm safe from having my stuff hacked.

  • Hello new to the group.  I will be getting one.  I was recently hacked, and lost everything, pretty hard to swallow when you reset your password and come back to naked high levels and no gold to be found anywhere  realizing you had literally spent months if not at least a year in front of the computer to get to where you were.  And they are right, I didn't give my password to ANYONE or follow any links I had one set of addons EVERYONE seemed to be using, auctioneer or something like that and I never even turned them on except maybe once.  (Updates turned them off.)  Had 9 characters on one server and all were effected except the one I had been playing recently. I guess they figured I wouldn't check the other ones too often if I was playing an alt.  Anyway I am still waiting to hear back from the GMs about what is going to happen.  Then I will have to decide what to do after that.

I hope they get caught from my account though, I was probably the worst person to hack, I don't do raids or dungeons, and I pretty much solo all the the time.  LOL

  • i recently got back into wow and hubby is letting me use the authenticator.  best way i can describe it is an extra password.  you press the button on it, type in the 6 digits and you're in.  the code only lasts maybe 10 seconds and changes every time you log in.  get it.  its much less stressful typing in the extra 6 numbers than having to wait till monday (most likely) to get with a blizz rep and start recovering all your lost stuff.

  • Just an FYI...anybody who has an iPhone...there is an iPhone app that is a Battle.net authenticator. It's a free app and works just like the Blizzard authenticator.
