dh and i decided early on that we would have our son call our close friends "aunt" or "uncle". i'm unsure about what to have him call more casual accquaintances tho. (obviously, teachers will be mr. or ms. and other authority figures will have appropriate titles). is it too much to have him call everyone mr and ms? any suggestions?

My kids call some of our close friends aunt and uncle, but they know that they are not really! They also use the Ms. Mrs. and Mr., but I am also trying to teach them to address ppl that we don't know very well as Ma'am, and sir! Not sure this helps, but sometimes kids will forget to use the mrs and mr!

I don't think is too much; better start to put in his mind the concept of respect from now than latter (much harder); also he'll learn that "the person" can alow him to e called by his/her name or aunt/uncle or only by their name if he/she feels confortable. In my opinio, in manners matter, too much is never too much!!
