For those interested in contributing or commenting on adult services for
so-called "higher functioning" persons with autism, please see below and
follow up with the committee co-chairs. Forwarded message from DHS follows:

August 12th, 2008 meeting of the Autism Task Force (ATF) discussion was held
regarding Public Act 095-0106

http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/publicacts/fulltext.asp?Name=095-0106&GA=095

Purpose: Research possible funding streams for the development and
implementation of services for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder without
mental retardation.

As part of discussion, "need for appropriations" the members present
approved that this task is achievable through the efforts of the Autism Task
Force without this stated appropriation clause. That this piece of
legislation given the population, its current and future growth could ill
afford waiting on 095-0106's fulfillment.

With Associate Secretary Grace Hou present, The (ATF) members present agreed
to the formation of a committee to carry out task outlined in PA 095-0106,
with Renee Lumpkin and Ruth Ann Sikora serving as Co-Chairs.

As Co-chairs, we are requesting from the members of the larger task force
and individual who are desirous in partaking in this opportunity to contact
Renee Lumpkin: rlumpkin@CSO1.org or Ruth Ann Sikora:
rams1103_p@dfdn.org

Renee Lumpkin; Co-Chair
Ruth Ann Sikora; Co-Chair
