what does everyone do? we have to travel to 2 different places. i am going to make sure to pack some of our own gf mac-n-cheese for the kids and some gf bread for bread and butter. the hard part is making sure other people arent using the same spoon for stuffing and then using it for the mashed potatoes!  i dont know about everyone else's kids, but within an hour of eating gluten my daughter is violently throwing up. not fun, especially at someone elses house!

i am a proud mommy of 1 ornery 1 year old little boy and one very goofy 4 year old little girl, ive been married for 2 years, together for almost 5. fun loving, eco-friendly, creative, different strokes work for different folks, stay at home and work at home mommy!

My family understands that I MUST serve myself first so there is little chance of cross contamination.  It also helps that we have the holiday dinners here so I can pull out my food first and have it safe from the rest.

Its too late for Thanksgiving, but if they will not let you serve her first, then take her own meal with you.  If you are taking a covered dish to a dinner put herserving in a seperate container and bag the safe foods first before everyone else begins to dip in.  They will understand that they are helping keep her from being ill.

I wish you luck and lots of good manners from the people and family that you dine with.

I make the thanksgiving at my house for my family. It has been interesting. And if anyone wants something that has gluten in it, they bring it with them. I have a separate counter for the gluten stuff from the gluten free. We had our first gluten free Thanksgiving last year and I was a nervous wreck but my family got it this year and it went off without an issue. I agree with the previous post though, get your food first. My brother has celiac and I am glute intolerant so we dish up ours first then everyone else goes.

Now if this isn't an option, as is the case the weekend before when I got to my maw maw's house, I just go through the line and just stick with safe stuff like vegetables only. She has these meals a lot so she does this like a pro and has a separate utensil for each dish, so I've never had a problem doing it this way. Well so far anyway.

Good luck!
