Pescatarian anyone?? I know this is a vegetarian group but Im having a hard time finding support!
We have always been a family that stayed away from especially beef and on ocassion we ate turkey, pork. Seafood and fish have always been a part of our diet. chicken has been a big part of it too. Recently and slowly we have been switching over to all organic. With this decision we have also decided to cut out chicken and all other meats. I have been trying to educate myself as much as possiable and I have also talked with our doctor and she thought it was a great idea. Im just trying to figure out how often can I be feeding our 5 year old and 16 month old fish and seafood? We are big on tilipia, salmon and Mahi Mahi. Any suggestions from anyone here to where I can get some answers would be great. Thanks a ton.
Not tilapia, unless it is wild caught!!!
While some wild caught fish have healthy fats, many farm raised fish just have fat (and some, like farm raised tilapia, can be quite toxic).
You can find a great guide to fish here: http://www.nrdc.org/health/effects/mercury/walletcard.PDF
and learn about farm raised vs. wild here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mark-hyman/wild-fish-farmed-fish_b_812308.html
What kind of support are you looking for?
