DH has an appointment next month for an MRI and consult with a back surgeon. He is not a canidate for back surgery but may be for an epidurial. We will see. If he doesn't do something soon to help him get out of that bed he won't be able to. His muscles are wasting away. His spirits are good but he is in constant pain.

So if they do this epidural he would be numb from the waist down?  What are the implications of that for his mobility?

The epidurial he is considering is just to deaden the nerves in one spot on his spine. I had one last week where a small cyst is pressing on my spine. It lowered my pain level from a 8-9 to a 3-4. Old epidurials used to deaden large areas...think childbirth but now they are used so many other ways.

So would this be a permenent solution or treatment?

No It is not permenent. These epidurals will have to be repeated every 2 months or so.
