I wanted to gather your thoughts on a  question that was asked to me by the birthfather of our adopted baby girl.
We adopted a baby girl 6 months ago from another state and the birth father is now separated from the birth mother in a rehab program and the birth mom wants so much to visit us with her two other siblings but the cost will be expensive to fly here , so the birth father sent me an email and asked if me and my husband would fund this trip for the birth mom as a surprise to her for her birthday, and that he will fund 400.00 of it.  This trip probably would costs anywhere from 1500.00 to 2,000.00 and were not even done paying for the adoption expenses and financially things are tough for us.  We paid twice to visit them and paid for everything while were in town , but now he's asking for this.  Do you think he is out of line or is this somehting you would do to help the birth mother see her baby that she adopted out to us????

  • I believe he is COMPLETELY out of line to even think to ask you to do this. You do not owe them anything. Just my opinion.

You're joking right? They gave you a child! I'm not saying you need to fund the trip, but how dare someone say "you do not owe them anything" whatever. I'm a birth mother and I'm SO offended!
