My name is Shea and I'm a single mother of two kids. I recently had my third child, which i gave up for adoption. After countless profiles I found the family i wanted to place my second son with. He was born Aug. 3, 2008 weighin in at 5lb 14oz. My adoption is open, which makes it special for me. I'm always getting new pics of what he's doing or a call asking me how I'm doing. And whats even more special, the adoptive mom was adopted herself.. I just need some good advice on handling all the emotional stuff that comes on with losing a part of you.

Hi there! I am not a birthmother, but an adoptive mother that just wants to tell you how wonderful I think you are. What you did for the woman you gave your son to is amazing. Our adoption is open and I love our daughter's birthmother with all my heart. My best advice is to make sure and talk to the adoptive mother, tell her you are sad and missing the baby, maybe she can help or send more pictures. I sent our birthmother outfits that the baby wore and locks of hair until she said she felt that was enough and just needed pictures. Now we talk all the time and actually just saw her today! Be open and honest with the adoptive mother- she is so grateful to you!

Hi Shea! I want to encourage you to come and visit OpenAdoptionSupport.com. There you'll find other moms who know what you're going through. (I started this cafemom group to try to bring people over to the main site where there's more traffic/action.) I hope you'll come by and post your intro.

Hello,
I just want to say it gets easier. I placed my child for adoption a year ago last week. It has been an emotional roller coaster but I keep reminding myself that I did the best thing I can. If you ever need to talk just let me know. I am more than happy to help.
