Noah is almost 6 months, and we have not given him anything except for formula, my husband and i went on our anniversary trip and his mom kept Noah, she told us she wanted to try to give him baby food, we told her we would rather do it ourselves for the first time. When we come back from our trip we find out that she has been putting full jars of applesauce and bananas in his fomula bottles, and giving him fruit juice. I bite my tongue and just smile and nod....(we never see eye to eye and it was just a few months ago we got into a confrontation so i didnt want to start anything again...) we leave and i break down in the car, i cannot believe she went against our wishes and done things with him we specifically asked her not too...i told my husband it would be better if she gave him baby food by spoon and it was veggies like he is suppose to have first, i would be able to accept that...but now trying to give him veggies is sooo stressful and sooo hard. I have been trying 3-4 times a day for 2 weeks and i havent gotten one spoonful down...i know this may not be a big deal to some...but i have ppd and little things like this just seem so big to me...anyone know how to get him to eat the veggies, we are trying carrots now already tried most of the other veggies...or do you think i should just give up and give him the fruits...i need advice desperately thanks everyone!

I'm scared of putting in a bottle too. I know our parents did that when we were little, but they had special nipples for cereal and food and such. I read online it was a Y shaped hole in the nipple. Have you tried different temperatures? I know we have to make it a game for my son. The more hes smilely and happy the more he'll eat. He's about a month younger than your son.

Have you tried sweet vaggies, like butternut squash... maybe carrots.  Maybe you could mix a couple to try and make something a little sweeter, like a little applesauce in some carrots.  I know how you feel, my 3yr old has always been super picky.

Beware introducing so many new foods at once.  Things should be added to his diet one item at a time to be sure there are no allergies.

I would have been pissed beyond belief if my inlaws had done that after I specifically told them NOT to.  Sounds like a talk about boundaries needs to take place.  Good luck.

i know this is going to sound a little wierd, but try sweet potatoes mixed with apple sauce, thats how i first got my lo to eat veggies, if he still wont mix 75% fruit 25% veggie and work your way up to giving him full veggies

1 mom liked this

He might not be ready for solids yet.  If you are getting stressed out over it then he is going to pick up on it.  I also would talk with MIL and tell her that you aren't happy with how she handled it.   She shouldn't have put all of that in his formula at all.

Have you tried rice cereal mixed with formula?  Also talk with his pedi about it.
