I have a planned c-section on the 28 of this month (November) and I am planning to fly home home on the 17 of december. My baby will be 2 weeks old. The flight will be an 1hour and 30minutes. I was wondering if its safe for a two weeks infant to travel on a jet plane for an hour and thirty minutes? Please, any body advise. I need to know if its safe.

  • Its not realyl advisable during flu and RSV deason to take such a young baby on a plane, plus you will be recovering from major abdominal surgery and you do not know if you will be up to flying yet. you might still be very sore.

  • Thank you so much for the quick reply. I really need to go home. I will be fine as my mother and husband will be traveling with me. I am just worried with the lattitude and cabin pressure if its going to have any effect on my baby at 2 weeks.

  • Flying wise they can fly at any age. heath wise i wouldn't recomended. the only thing the airlines might do is require a note from your doctor on you and your baby. I would check with you doctor for one thing. And i would check with the airline also.

  • I think that if you really want to go you should go. My pediatrician wasn't so concerned when I asked him about 5 1/2 weeks.

  • I flew when my daughter was 5 wks old. I remember reading something tho that said not under 14days. Not sure if it depends on the airline or not. I would call the airlines as well as talk to your babys dr about it.
