Getting kids outside whenever possible is always fun. Nature Study is a favorite of the Charlotte Mason Education. My son is 4 and he actually enjoys looking at birds at our feeders and birdhouses. He likes to feed them too.

Children love vibrant colors. Nature is full of them. Here is something I recently read about this topic: (Quoting Charlotte) "...We are all meant to be naturalists, each to his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world too full of marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things."   I thought this was a very good point.

Play, play, play. Kids learn through doing and experiencing on their own. Let them touch and feel and learn and do...as long as it is safe and educational. : )
