I feel bad that I'm 20 weeks and still smoking!  I smoked with my first and she is fine, but I still feel bad and I hide my smoking, especially since my baby bump is so noticeable!

I think that the societal pressure is tough...but it is also bullshit. If a pregnant woman wants to buy mcdonalds every day nobody gives a shit...but when I tried to buy cigarettes I had a clerk refuse to sell them to me.

OMG, you had a clerk refuse to sell you cigarettes because you are pregnant???? They cant do that!  Did you talk to the manager? I havent had any problems, although I do try to hide my tummy with winter clothes and buy  a cartoon each time I need smokes to cut down on my trips to the store!

I am 35 weeks and still smoking, down to between 3-5 a day,but still feel like I am doing something wrong. If you smoked when pregnant, how much did you smoke? was baby ok? I was able to quit with my first at 6 months ( he is almost 7 now) and he seems ok, but I am worried about this one, any thoughts? suggestions?

I really wanted to quit for this pregnancy, but have not been able to.  I smoked with my daughter, who is now 18yrs old and she was born fine 8lbs 4ozs.  I smoke about a pack or less a day-everything is fine with this baby too!  Good luck.  Dont worry so much.

SIDS is scaring me TO DEATH! I smoke about a pack a day.... and I can't seem to slow down... even keeping busy, my cigs keep disappearing (no my b/f isn't stealing them, he smokes menthol) I'm 35 weeks and so far, baby seems fine, but I've heard too many stories and my mind is running crazy, therefore, my nerves are up and I'm smoking more than I realize.
Am I the only one here?

totally the same thing I am going thru. I have tried to quit all this pregnancy and just can't, it's wierd, I totally understand how you feel, I am at 37 weeks now, and freaking out. I know someone who smoked thru their three pregnancies and the kids were fine, just was told not to smoke in the house once baby arrives. I wish you the best of luck....we both need it! and the stress of quitting just doesn't help does it?

Yeah...he just flat out refused...I got his ass fired for it, too. Moral of the story: Don't fuck with the pregnant lady!

No, the STRESS of quitting DOESN'T help at all. Actually, my OB/GYN told me that QUITTING WOULD be MORE stressful so if I could'nt quit...DON'T WORRY ABOUT QUITTING!
