How do I know?

How do I know that my smoking while pregnant hasn't caused any harm to my baby? My baby is doing great from what the doctors say but I'm freaked out that when I give birth he'll have lots of problems...won't the doctors know before birth if anything develops or do I just have to see what happens?

I smoked with my boys. I was worried just like you are, but when they got here they were healthy and happy little boys, my first son was 6p 8o and my second was 7p 8o. so i wouldn't feel to bad.

I agree with lovemyboys.  Just think positive thoughts, try to cut back if you can.  When I had  my chittlin's they couldn't really tell anything except for size.  Usually smoking can CONTRIBUTE to low birth weight. But there are a lot of other things that can.  Your doctor will know if the babies not growing fast enough, is my guess.

Try to relax and enjoy growing another person in your body.  I hope you're feeling well.

I smoked for 7 1/2 months with my first kid.  They say there will be low birth weight and all kinds of other problems.  My daughter was 24 inches long, 15 1/2 inch head and chest, and weighed 9 1/2 pounds!!  I didnt smoke with my son and he was almost exactly the same size minus a half a pound.  Neither have asthma or anything like that.  So in my experience, it didnt have any adverse effect.  I had one that I smoked with and one that I didnt.  Doctors just like to blame anything on smoking.  It is a personal choice, but I for one, dont believe all the hype against smoking.

Yup  I smoked my entire pregnancy with ds and he was born at 10 lbs 1 oz and 22 1/4 inches the hype against smoking is bs as far as im concerned. My baby now is growing just fine and is doing great in the womb measuring up to 2 wks ahead and yes I'm still smoking. Ds never gets sick he had one mild cold and so far that's it.
