Atypical Endometrial Hyperplasia?

That what the Doctor says I have. She is recommending Hysterectomy. Has anyone else ever had this? I am terrified of the idea of these cells someday becoming cancerous but I'm also very scared of having a Hysterectomy!

Im so sorry nobody has gotten around to responding yet!

This group has gotten rather inactive it would seem..I am considering making a blog for younger women and moms who have been through this.

I can tell you from experience, as I was in the exact same boat, my doctor couldnt give me a straight answer if my partially solid ovarian cyst was cancerous or not. After many ultra sounds and trying to shrink it with no luck, my husband and I, as well as my doctor opted for a total hysterectomy.

I can tell you that there is life after hysterectomy. I have a full life now, perhaps even better than before. It gave me time to reflect on things and realize that every moment counts.  If you have a good support system, you can get through it. I was lucky enough to have two wonderful grandma's (my mom and my husbands) that kept our son for the first few weeks while I was recovering. It's important to not do too much at first, and just make yourself let things go..In other words, skip the vaccume, forget the laundry, and just let your body heal.

My question to you would be, do you have kids yet? If so consider them in your decision, if not consider that in your decision also.

Are your ovaries okay? Would you be able to keep one ovary so that your body still produces it's own hormones and not throw you into surgical menopause?

I ended up with surgical menopause, due to only having one ovary already, and that ovary being a bad apple so to speak.

But ya know what, I've done well on hormone replacement therapy. I use the Climara patch .1mg and it's works well. I very rarely have a hot flash or menopause symptom.

But everyone varies, I have heard of women who have had issues finding the right hrt after surgery, or had a tough recovery.

If I was you, I would get a second opinion first, and if they say the same thing as your doctor. Have the surgery. Hysterectomy is such a bad word to some people, but it can give you a new lease on life if you think positive, thats the key...
