I'm in the hopsital. Thank god for highspeed wireless internet in my room. :D I was told everything went great...I won't know the details of everything until the morning however my husband did say that the doctor removed a cyst from my ovary, and that I had a TON of scar tissue in there. I did get the epidural and so far it has worked wonderfully. The epidural didn't even hurt going in. It's different when you don't have that HUGE belly to deal with. Alright, going to get some rest.

Ugh, I can't seem to get any rest. They put me in a room with another lady. I hate NON private rooms. I don't see why they would have someone who just had abdominal surgery share a room with someone else. She's watching tv right now and has her lights on etc. I guess we'll see if i can get some rest.
Hey! Great to hear you're doing well! Just annoying about not getting rest b/c of fellow patient, ehrmmm ... know that feeling! Had abdom. hysto at beg. of December, and ended up in a 4 bed-room straight after surgery, and here in Australia, its men and women mixed in one room. Had an abusive old man right next to me shouting all night; a lady opposite who had about 10 visitors at any time, even at night one or two were there. Awful isnt it?!! Just sending my prayers so that you get some much needed rest!! Mind you, I think I'll take on some private health insurance, just so, if anything happens again, I can get at least a 2-people-bedroom or even better just a private room!! Anyway, good luck and sleep tight!! Christine ;-)

Thank You for reporting in so soon. Glad to hear everything is going well for you. Too bad about the roommates though. I found out that if I tell the hospital at the pre op tests that I tend to be a night owl and sleep very little they will try to get me into a room without any one in the other bed.
Get some sleep now.

I slept really good last night. I get to go home today. I only did good because of the epidural. I highly recommend one if your doctor will let you have one. It makes things a LOT easier. I had a problem with getting to sleep the first night. They gave me valium and tordol and I still didn't get to sleep, so the medication I found that works the best if your having problems sleeping is phenegren. Phenegren is what they give you if your feeling nauseated. I wasn't feeling sick but it helped me sleep.. I learned you gotta do what you gotta do to get some rest. Hope everything goes well for you tomorrow. Oh, I also have an On Q ball which is a ball full of pain medication and it's a small catheter thats fed directly into my abdomen. It will go home with me and empty during the next 3-5 days and then I just remove it myself.
Thanks! OK, I have to ask, ON Q ball? I have never heard of anything like that. Do you just push a button when you want some of the medication or is it automatic?
Thanks for the ideas, I will keep them all in mind!
Good luck with your first day at home!

The Q ball is automatic.
Here's a website about it.
http://www.askyoursurgeon.com/ I hope that helps answer some questions.

Glad to hear that your doing so well. Sounds like your quite a trooper! When I had my hysterectomy in Feb of '04 all I remember is directly after surgery I was hurting a little bit but that was all, I was up walking the next morning feeling o.k., now I didn't want to run a race or do the splits but I felt better than expected. Hang in there and just remember that you are recovering no matter how you feel, don't vacuum, sweep, or take wet clothes out of the washing machine. These are all things that can pull at your abdominal muscles and cause you to be in a lot of pain. Take it easy and get lots of rest.
