Hi Ladies:
I went to the doctor yesterday for some minor concerns.  My doctor brought up the subject about sex.  He had asked me if I had sex yet.  I told him no and then I asked if I could.  He said that i could only if i was comfortable doing so and if my husband is really gentle.  (i'm 3 weeks post-op).  I'm recovering fine.  We tried last night, but I was too nervous and I was shaking like a leaf.  but I was wondering if anyone tried anal sex after a hysterectomy

I can't do anal it hurts to bad.  But I did have sex w my dh around 3 weeks after vaginal hyster.  I didn't have permission from doc I just wanted it REAL bad and I talked dh into it.  He was scared out of his mind and would only go in part of the way.  That freaked him out and he wouldn't do it again until the doc said ok.  I was fine.  If you like anal than I would say go for it--just use lube and be careful.  I give warnings to women about anal sex--it can cause permanent damage because it is not made to stretch that much so be very careful and use lots of lube.

I am 9 days post op.  I too have my sex drive back- for the first time in years.  Yesterday I spent some time exploring myself in the shower.  I wanted to see what I was comfortable with before I committed to anything with my husband. I ended up deciding to stay on the outside.   I personally have never liked anal sex.  I am not willing to do it now either.
My advice is to do what you are comfortable with.  Definitely try inserting fingers before you commit to inserting a penis.

If you are too scared for intercourse why don't you and hubby do mutual Oral?

My doc told me I needed to wait at least 6 weeks post op... So, even though the drive did came back, I waited...when it was time to I was scared to death he might cause the end of my "sock" to break open..  Needless to say..it didn't.  I also had a vaginal hysterectomy...just be gentle at first.  I am sure anal sex wouldn't be a problem as long as it's consentual.  I think all of us were scared the first couple times after surgery.  I had my hysterectomy 5 years ago and I am more active now (I'm 36) than ever before in my life...mainly because I don't have to deal with the pain associated with endometriosis/sex.  So, whatever you do.....it WILL get better!  Once you start relaxing and not tensing up because of your own thoughts of being scared and pain...it will improve greatly!  Good luck to you!

To be honest anal sex was much better after hysterectomy.

Hi,

I was looking up some information about this subject because I cannot see waiting 6 weeks for sex. I am only 1 week post-op and am already having strong desires to have sex. The doctor made a very strong poing about not having anything inserted into the vagina, but did not say anything about anal. Yes these systems are close together inside the body and careful consideration is to be taken and if you did not like anal sex before surgery then I would say wait. But if your recovering well and the doc says go ahead then anal sex is a very good place to start.
