I had my Vaginal Hysterectomy and a Bladder and Rectal Repair done on January 28, 2009. I am going on my 3rd week of recovery. My surgery was nothing like I thought it would have been. I have not had much pain at all. My Husband took 3 weeks off from work to take care of me and our children. It is going very good, I am just ready for this pink spotting to stop!

Sounds like you're doing great! And....God bless your husband for taking so much time off to help you! You are very lucky :o) The spotting can last anywhere from a week to several weeks. Everyone is different where that is concerned. Mine lasted around 3-4 weeks. I still wore a little liner for a few weeks after that, just to be safe. Probably out of habit, too! Don't worry. It's normal :o)
Take care

I had a complex hysterectomy with cervical removal on January 26, 2009. I wasn't lucky enough to have it done vaginally. I had endometriosis every where due to the multiple surgeries to help cure my ovarian cancer. You sound like you are doing very well. I still am having quite a bit of stomach discomfort and can not bend all the way and am still on a no lift instructions. I had "spotting" for a week and it went away. My biggest concern is how to control these hot flashes.

Are you on HRT? I had both ovaries taken and my gyno put a patch on me before I even got out of recovery. Her philosophy is.....why should you suffer with menopause symptoms, when you don't have to??!! I agree completely!! If you are concerned about going on HRT because of the cancer risk, since you've already battled ovarian cancer, there are lots of natural things you can take to help with the hot flashes and other symptoms of menopause. There is one called Estroven. It's an OTC supplement and natural. I know our CVS has it. I'm sure other drug stores have it also. A friend of mine is taking it now and it's working wonderfully for her. You could also check at a nutrition store, like GNC. I'm sure they have lots of different natural supplements for menopause symptoms.
Good luck :o
