If you have children that are old enough to nap- well than God Bless you! You can chop, clean, and prepare most foods while they are napping. If you don't than you may not even have the time to read this, if you do have the time, PLEASE try this once, if it doesn't work, okay- tell me why not....just TRY it though...
Before you go to the grocery store once a week- YOU SHOULD NEVER GO MORE THAN ONCE IN A WEEK...make a menu...just decide what is for dinner 6 nights in a week- no one should slave 7 nights a week, that is what take out, left- overs, and pizza is for :) If you need inspiration, come here- you will find it!

After you make the menu- clean out your fridge. Most fresh-foods will go bad in a week anyway- so designate one day to make your menu and then clean out your fridge ,this will help you figure out what you need as well as make room for the new stuff

Check your coupons- if you use coupons like I do- check them add to the list if here ar some great deals_ I save at least $20 a week in coupons!!

Finally- MAKE YOUR LIST AND STICK TO IT! you will save time and money! Do NOT buy items not on your list - UNLESS you do the walk about- The walk about is basically- okay the Ice cream is on sale, but not on your list, you didn't know it was SO cheap, get everything on your list, if you still remember it at the end of shopping, go back and get it, if you don't get it, you probably realize you didn't really need it. This will help overspending.

Most of this stuff is easy to do when your DH is home on weekends and can entertain the little ones or the kids are gone, if you stay at home or work and the kids NEVER leave your side, have them help! They love playing with garbage- have them throw things away- this gets them involved, also ask what they want for dinner- this way they will be more likely to actually EAT it :)

Also if you take your kids to the store, don't forget what an AWESOME learning opp. this is- have them count the veggies, tell you the veggie and fruit colors mark things off the list! It helps them stay involved and it gives you a little help!

So what do we do?
1. make a menu
2. clean the fridge
3. Get coupons together & check sale ads
4. Make a list- & STICK TO IT!
