my 8 week old son had surgery yesterday on his clubbed feet, they had to cut both of his achilles tendons inorder to release the heal so his foot will stay flat instead of arched. everything went perfect, he is back in his cast which he has to wear for 4 weeks then he goes back into his brace. i am just so relieved that the worst part is over, and he is acting as if nothing happened:)  to other moms going through this, it is hard to have to put your child through this but they will never remember it, and it has to be done so he/or she can live a normal life.

My daughter had that surgery done a month ago when she was 3 months old I didnt realize they did it that early.  she has been in cast since she was 6 days old and still in them.

Tomorow my baby has his first appointment with the doctor that is going to be doing his castings and his tendon surgery (they say that it is needed cause his feet are so bad) ive met him once and i get a good feeling from him. im not excited for all of this and i really hate the fact that my little man has to go through all of this but i am very happy that there is something they can do for it. it also makes me feel better that the doctor that will be treating him worked right under Ponsetti for 3 years i think he said. that makes me all the more confident in him. so as far as the tendon surgery how long does that take to heal after it is done? and after he gets that done does he have just one cast for the 4 weeks or do they keep switching it up like before?

the surgery was very quick the whole procedure took about 30 mins, they going in with the scalpel turn it sideways slide it across tendon then take it out...thats it then they put the cast on which stay on for 4 weeks straight no switching, u will see blood through the casts because they dont sew it shut cuz its such a small insition, my little guy gets his cast off dec.2 then goes back into the brace...cant wait im so excited just wanna give him a normal bath again:(

awww i cant wait to be able to give my little man a bath. i havnt been able to give him a full bath because his embilical cord was not healed before they put the first set of casts on. so casts for 4 weeks... thats doesnt sound fun but if it needs to be done than at least we can do something about this before they are old enough to remember.
