so we had our first appointment last wed 11-18-09. his first set of casts. well thing is when we got there the doctors nurse said well i have a question. can we do this as a case study? take pictures document it all that because he is the worse case they have seen in there clinic. i said of course anything to help with further education on club foot. of course it did make me upset to know that he is the worse case but they will give us photos of every change free of charge so i dont have to try to remember to do that lol. anyway how bad was everyones case? i have pics ill show how my sons look.

his first set of casts... its hard to see my precious little boy in casts already... hes only 2 weeks old lol he was born 11-9-09 and hes already had his first casts... ive never had any and im 27 lol hes way braver than i am.
My son's one clubfoot is the worst that his dr has seen also I dont have a pic of it from birth its on my cell and that has been truned off my son is 18 months old been in a casr since he was 5 hours old and he's on cast number 30 now problly he had the tendonomaty 2 times but the 2nd time they did it they also cut all his tendons in his foot and put a pin in it to kee it down we will change his cast 1 a week every week till January thats when he gets into his brace
we live in sioux falls south dakota... so hes being treated here at the hospitals orthopedic clinic. the doctor that is doing the treatment worked under Ponsetti for 5 years... so that makes me all the more positive about his feet!
Quoting Winter711:What a tooper!! I know it is hard to see them in the casts but it will get better. Do you mind if I ask where he is being treated? My son had only a right club foot but it looked much like your little one.
wow he has been through a lot. i hope that everything goes good for you!

Your little man looks like a keeper! First Congrats, and second, don't worry to much, in a few years you will look back and wonder how it went by so fast, my daughter had one club foot, it was hard, yes, but not really, you know? and they ARE Bravier then any of us! lol
Hang in there!!!

shortly after birth--May 24

at ten days old, the day before the first casts

after five sets of casts
Hope this helps. Our little John's feet looked very similar to your little guy's at first and our ortho said the case was definitely NOT the worst he's ever seen in his office. They can do wonders nowadays for these little folks.
John has been in the shoes now for four months. He had a bit of a relapse with the worst foot and may eventually need surgery, but we're hoping he won't. He's doing great and your little guy will too. BTW: the shoes look intimidating at first, but they aren't that bad and they are definitely better than the casts. :) Keep us updated, won't you?
wow Johns feet do look a lot like Matthews! thats awesome that it only took 4 sets. Matthew will need a few more because his feet are soo stiff. He is now on his 4th set of casts, i will get pictures up tomorow to show you how its going so far. Im not at all intimidated but the shoes im actually looking forward to them! I cannot wait to be able to give my little guy an actual bath that has been the hardest part of this. Thank you so much for showing me ur little mans progress. :D

well my lil got his 4th set of casts yesterday. fine and dandy lol till he decided that it would be fun to kick them off! he had one past his knees and the other one slipped about an inch lol. so we had to redo his 4th set. the doc didnt get the bend in his knee quite good enough and where his feet were pretty much straight down it made it super easy for him to kick out of them. so we now call him houdini.
