My first son was born with bilateral club foot. When he was born my ob said it was because my uterus didn't grow enough. My son was 8lb 1 oz, 20.5 inches long and I carried a high amount of amniotic fluid (not excessive, just on the higher end of normal scale). I'm 27 weeks now and my son moves so much and so strong that my sd watched him move this weekend while we were watching a movie. I know that club foot is genetic and my oldest sd had an issue with her right foot when she was born but they never diagnosed her with club foot. My current ob said there was a slim chance that this baby would have club foot but is there any validity to what my previous ob said about my uterus? Has anyone else been told this? They havent found any problems on my ultrasounds but it didn't show up on any of my sons ultrasounds either.
Our pediatric orthopedic and peditirician told us that clubfeet can be positional (as you mention - the postion in the uterus) or genetic. They told us there is a 20% chance siblings could have clubfeet.
Thanks. I'm trying not to worry, especially if its 20% chance but the baby seems big already. My sd watched him move this past weekend and he was kicking remotes off my belly and I'm only 27 weeks. I'll just have to relax and remind myself that if he has it like my other son it's nothing we can't handle.
